Working as a test cook full time is a dream come true. But my true passion is pasta. I've travelled around the world in search of the most intriguing noodles. Italy is my favorite destination of all. Two regions in Italy are especially close to my heart: Emilia Romagna (where I went to culinary school) and Puglia (where I lived, worked in restaurants, and made so many dear friends).

 

What does a day off for Katie look like? 

 

A quick coffee trip with the dogs down her small street in the South End of Boston before she jets down to the Martha's Vineyard ferry. With no bags or worries, this Island girl heads straight to her garden.

Spending most of the day country cooking, my test cook days have also encouraged getting my hands into some flour post work hours. While my cooking career began with French Bistro cuisine, it has quickly expanded. 

 

What does a day off for Berkey  look like?  

 

This Eastie resident can't pass up a morning trip to the beach with the dogs. Singing Beach preferably, the drive north or south most likely consists of one of the occasional chances to sit and have lunch. A stop or two for home improvements and a beer along the way.
